BATU KOQ AND SENARU |

| Buses from Mandalika terminal in Sweta terminate at ANYER , from
where bemos (Rp1500) and ojek (Rp5-6000) run to the neighbouring
villages of BATU KOQ and SENARU (about 86km from Mataram). Both have
accommodation spread out for several kilometres along the road: Segara
Anak is the most northerly and furthest from the mountain, while Bale
Bayan Senaru lies right at the end of the road where the path up the
mountain begins. Places on the east of the road generally have the best
views towards the mountain. All will help you arrange your trek, rent
out gear, find porters and store your stuff, and most have small
restaurants attached. Just to the south of Pondok Senaru, a small path
heads east to the river and Sendang Gile waterfall , where you can bathe,
although the water is pretty chilly. The traditional village at Senaru,
a fenced compound with houses of bamboo and thatch set out in rows, next
to the Bale Bayan Senaru, is also worth visiting. |
