BUKIT LAWANG |

| Tucked away on the easternmost fringes of the Bukit Barisan range,
78km north of Medan, the Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre at BUKIT
LAWANG is one of the most enjoyable places in North Sumatra and has
become a major tourist attraction. The setting for the village, on the
eastern banks of the Sungai Bohorok, opposite the forest-clad slopes of
Gunung Leuser, is idyllic. The village also contains some of the most
charming and inexpensive losmen in Sumatra, with balconies overlooking
the river and macaques on the roof looking for food. |
