KALIANDA |

Situated just under 60km south of Bandar Lampung, the small coastal
town of KALIANDA is a great alternative to the hassles and expenses of
the city, and an excellent stopping-off point whether you're entering or
leaving Sumatra. It's served by public transport from the Bakauheni
ferry terminal and from the Panjang and Rajabasa terminals in Bandar
Lampung Kalianda. Public transport in Kalianda arrives at Terminal Pasar
Impress in front of the main market; wander the alleyways here to enjoy
the sights, sounds and smells.
The best travellers' accommodation is in the Beringin Hotel, Jl Kesuma
Bangsa 75 (tel 0727/2008; c), in a large, colonial-style bungalow with
big rooms, an airy lounge and a garden. To get here from the terminal,
go back onto the road, turn right for about 400m to a junction where a
large road joins from the right; head down here past the local school
and the hotel is at the far end on the left. Alternatively, hire an ojek.
The hotel organizes local trips, including excursions to Krakatau . The
post office is at Jalan Pratu M Yusuf and the telephone office on the
main street is open 7am to midnight. The main shopping street is Jalan
Serma Ibnu Hasyim, a short walk from the Beringin Hotel.
