| KOTO GADANG is a small, attractive village situated on the western
edge of the Ngarai Sianok Canyon, with plenty of small silver workshops
and shops. Though you can get local transport to the village, many
people try to find the route from Bukittinggi by foot that starts off
down Jalan Tengku Nan Renceh, and then heads along a footpath to the
footbridge across the river and up the steps on the other side of the
canyon. Be aware that there's a well-orchestrated scam, with local
people refusing to point the way and hapless tourists being led by young
lads on a two-hour rough trek through the canyon, for which they expect
payment. |
